Shim rings and washers, DIN 988-type
Flat rings in stainless steel for setting the end-float or preload of bearings, gears and shafts, and for taking up the gap behind a bearing or a gear. Sizes follow the published DIN 988 size tables.
Kits of gauges
Our standard ring kit has eight gauges (0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mm), twenty of each, in stainless steel 304. Large ring kits (bores 75 to 170 mm) have four gauges (0.5 to 2.0 mm), ten of each. The thickness is marked on every ring.

What is a shim ring used for?
It sets the axial position (end-float) or preload of a bearing, gear or shaft, and fills the gap behind a bearing or gear so it sits correctly.
Are the rings made to DIN 988?
The sizes follow the published DIN 988 size tables for bore, outside diameter and thickness. Tell us the standard and size you need and we confirm before quoting.
Can you make rings that are not in the standard?
Yes. Any bore, outside diameter and gauge can be cut to your drawing, in stainless steel, brass or steel.
