Thin, accurate shims for drone motor mounts, gimbals, payload and sensor alignment and frame joints, cut to your outline with holes and slots, from 0.05 mm foil, in prototype and batch quantities.
Why drones need shims
A drone flies well only when its motors, gimbal and sensors are aligned. A motor that sits a fraction of a millimetre off its arm causes vibration, and a camera or antenna that is slightly out of line points the wrong way. Thin shims correct these small errors, and are light enough not to cost payload.
What we make
- Thin shims, 0.05 to 0.75 mm, laser-cut or photo-etched to your outline, with holes for bolts
- Brass shims, which are non-magnetic and suit parts near compasses and magnetic sensors
- Laminated peelable shims that you tune on the bench, a layer at a time
- Stainless steel 304 and 316 for strength and corrosion resistance at thin gauges

Shims for drones and uav: questions
Can you make shims to a custom outline with holes?
Yes. Send a drawing or a DXF file with the outline, hole positions and gauge. Thin gauges are laser-cut or photo-etched.
What is the thinnest shim you make?
0.05 mm. Typical thin gauges are 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.75 mm.
Do you supply non-magnetic shims?
Brass shims are non-magnetic. Tell us the magnetic requirement and we advise the material.
Do you make prototype quantities?
Yes. Prototype and small-batch quantities are welcome, and we scale up to batches when the design is approved.
