Packing and levelling shims
Slotted and holed plates in steel, stainless and galvanised sheet for levelling base plates and machine feet, packing lift guide-rail brackets, levelling solar structures and filling small gaps under a bolt.
The range
- Base-plate packing shim: 100 × 100 mm, 26 mm slot, mild steel 2 to 6 mm; sizes from 75 to 200 mm
- Lift guide-rail bracket packing set: 100 × 60 mm, 18 mm slot, stainless steel 304, 1.0 to 4.0 mm, to the lift maker's drawing
- Solar structure levelling shim: 80 × 80 mm, 18 mm slot, galvanised 1.5 to 3.0 mm
- Machine-foot shim plate: 150 × 100 mm with two Ø18 holes, cold-rolled steel 1.0 to 3.0 mm, zinc plated
- Spacer plate with centre hole: 50 × 50 mm, Ø13 hole, mild steel 2 to 6 mm, zinc plated
Mild-steel shims are plain and lightly oiled, with primer on request. Zinc plating adds thickness (5 to 25 micrometres on each face): allow for it in the gauge.

Packing and levelling: questions
Slotted or holed: which is better?
A slotted shim slides in around a bolt without removing the nut, which is faster. A holed plate is cheaper and drops over the bolt when the bolt can be taken out.
Who sets the shim thickness?
Your engineer or the equipment maker sets the thickness and number of shims. We make them to the drawing.
